What is GenAI already being used for in research, and what are the frontier applications? Can it conduct empirical research autonomously? How does it affect the quality and productivity of research? Who benefits from GenAI, and can it make academia more inclusive? And what role can open models play?
Join us for an insightful evening with three experts from the field exploring how GenAI could shape the future of empirical research. We are pleased to welcome Prof. David Yanagizawa-Drott (University of Zurich) as our keynote speaker, whose recent work explores the potential of AI to transform and automate the research process. Prof. Conny Wunsch (University of Basel) will bring a complementary perspective through her research on the impact of AI on the productivity and quality of scientific research and her expertise in labor economics. Oleg Lavrovsky (EPFL) will introduce the open large language model Apertus developed in Switzerland and present its potential in research.
