This seminar is part of the Tuesday Seminar Series organized by the Center for Hydrogeology and Geothermics (CHYN) at the University of Neuchâtel. We are pleased to welcome Prof. Sarah Garré from the Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food, who will speak about how to deal with climatic extremes in agriculture
Abstract
As climate is changing, farmers need to adapt their practices to deal with more frequent weather extremes. They have to anticipate to long dry periods as well as to intense rainfall events and waterlogging. In this talk, Sarah Garré presents ongoing research at ILVO on various pathways and measures farmers and society can take to proactively adapt to the increased occurrence of weather extremes. She addresses some of the barriers to implementation and remaining knowledge gaps as well as success stories from Flanders, Belgium.
