Data visualization with R (in coll. with CUSO)

Clear data visualization is essential in science, but not always easy to achieve. This course introduces key principles and common pitfalls, with hands‑on R sessions to help participants create clear, accurate figures using base R and ggplot2.
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to scientific data visualization. Participants will learn how to choose the most suitable graphical representation for a dataset, design clear and effective figures, and avoid common pitfalls such as misleading error bars. Practical sessions using R (base R and ggplot2) will guide students through the creation of high‑quality visualizations for different types of scientific communication.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to apply data visualization methods confidently, select appropriate graph types, and produce publication‑ready figures using R.

Registration via CUSO, also for DSLS places (2)

Reminder:

The DSLS reminds participants that for activities organised in collaboration with CUSO, only travel costs can be reimbursed, based on a standard half‑fare CFF return ticket between Neuchâtel and the activity location. Accommodation, meals, and other subsistence expenses are not covered unless lunch is explicitly included in the CUSO activity. Any exception must be requested at least five days in advance and depends on the available budget. Students attending through CUSO‑reserved places follow CUSO’s reimbursement rules, and all original tickets and receipts must be kept.
