Après avoir lancé six nouveaux Pôles de Recherche Nationaux (PRN) en janvier, la Confédération a réservé des fonds pour au moins un autre PRN en sciences humaines et sociales (SHS). Le FNS a publié la mise au concours pour des Pôles de recherche nationaux (PRN) 6+ le 25 juin 2026. Cet appel est thématiquement limité aux propositions qui s'inscrivent dans les disciplines des SHS. La recherche sur des enjeux scientifiques, économiques ou sociétaux majeurs peut exiger de collaborer avec des disciplines en dehors des SHS. Pour les propositions interdisciplinaires dépassant ce domaine, la vision principale et la contribution scientifique centrale doivent toutefois rester au sein des SHS.

Le rectorat est favorable au dépôt de candidatures impliquant l’UniNE en tant qu'institution hôte ou co-hôte. Le soutien institutionnel reste toutefois à confirmer au cas par cas, et les enveloppes financières restent à définir.

La démarche et le calendrier sont les suivants :

·    Déclarations d'intention esquisses (échéance FNS : 1er septembre 2026) : Il s'agit d'une condition préalable nécessaire au dépôt ultérieur d'une esquisse de projet. Le dépôt d’une déclaration d’intention ne requiert aucune confirmation de l'institution hôte. Une copie de la déclaration d’intention soumise au FNS doit être transmise au rectorat, sans garantie de soutien institutionnel à ce stade.

·    Esquisses de projet (échéance FNS : 20 octobre 2026 17:00 CEST) : Le rectorat analysera les déclarations d’intention au début du mois de septembre, en concertation avec les porteuses et porteurs internes de projet. Par la suite, une décision sera prise concernant le soutien institutionnel. Suite à cette décision, une esquisse de projet pourra être préparée pour soumission au FNS.

·    Retour des évaluations (janvier 2027) : Sur la base de l’évaluation reçue, une discussion sera menée avec les porteuses et porteurs internes du projet. Une décision sera ensuite prise par le rectorat quant au maintien ou à la modification du soutien institutionnel.

·    Déclaration d’intention requêtes, échéance FNS : 31 mars 2027

·    Requêtes, échéance FNS : 20 mai 2027

·    Début des activités de recherche : d’ici le 1er avril 2028

Dans le cadre de cette mise au concours, le FNS proposera une séance d’information en ligne le mercredi, 8 juillet 2026, de 11h00 à 12h00.

After having launched six National Centres of Competence in Research (NCCRs) in January, the federal government has set aside funds for at least one further NCCR in the social sciences and humanities (SSH). The call for the additional selection procedure is open since 25 juin 2026. The additional NCCR call (6+) is aimed at researchers from the SSH and therefore seeks NCCRs with a clear focus on issues in these fields. In the case of interdisciplinary proposals that incorporate other disciplines, the scholarly contribution must lie within the SSH, and the majority of the researchers involved must be active in SSH fields.

The rectorate is in favour of applications involving UniNE as a host or co-host institution. However, institutional support is subject to confirmation on a case-by-case basis, and the funding allocations are yet to be defined.

The procedure and timetable are as follows:

·   Declaration of intent outline proposal (SNSF deadline: 1 September 2026): This is a necessary prerequisite for the subsequent submission of a project outline. Submitting a statement of intent does not require confirmation from the host institution. A copy of the declaration of intent submitted to the FNS must be forwarded to the Rector’s Office, without any guarantee of institutional support at this stage.

·   Outline proposals (SNSF deadline: 20 October 2026): The Rector’s Office will review the declarations of intent in early September, in consultation with the internal project leaders. A decision will then be made regarding institutional support. Following this decision, a outline proposal may be prepared for submission to the FNS.

·   Feedback on evaluations (January 2027): Based on the evaluation received, a discussion will be held with the internal project leaders. A decision will then be taken by the Rectorate as to whether to maintain or amend the institutional support.

·   Declaration of intent full proposal: 31 March 2027

·   Full proposals: 20 May 2027

·   Start of research: by 1 April 2028
