The Doctorate

Is it a good idea to do a doctorate? What does it lead to? Is it worth it? How can I effectively manage the beginning of my thesis, finance it and get organised?

These are questions many students ask themselves in the final year of their degree course or after having taken the plunge and started their thesis.

The aim of this section of the site is to provide doctoral students with advice on how to successfully negotiate the main stages of doctoral student life and guidelines for finding their way in the academic world.

It is also intended for those who are contemplating doing a doctorate, but are still hesitating: here they will find information to help them to clarify their choice.
