From 2014 to 2026, the nccr – on the move was a National Centre of Competence in Research funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. It brought together researchers from across Switzerland to investigate the complex relationships between migration and mobility — the Migration-Mobility Nexus.
The nccr – on the move concluded in 2026. These legacy pages, hosted by the SFM at the University of Neuchâtel, preserve access to its research, people and major scientific and public-facing outputs. They provide a permanent entry point to research projects, publications, datasets, the Migration-Mobility Survey, the Migration-Mobility Indicators and selected resources for policy and society.
Where possible, original publications, data, documentation and other research materials remain available through their existing links, repositories or long-term archives.
Explore twelve years of interdisciplinary research across three funding phases, tracing how the nccr – on the move’s research evolved from a primarily Swiss focus to increasingly comparative and international perspectives.
Discover the researchers, project leaders and partner institutions that formed the nccr – on the move network between 2014 and 2026.
Access the scientific publications and working papers produced within the nccr – on the move. The complete bibliography continues to be available through the nccr – on the move Zotero library and associated repositories.
Access datasets, documentation and research infrastructure developed by nccr – on the move, including the Migration-Mobility Survey and information on long-term access to archived and restricted datasets.
The Migration-Mobility Indicators translate NCCR research and survey data into accessible information about migration and mobility in Switzerland. Interactive visualisations remain available during the transition period and will subsequently be preserved as a static archive.
Explore the nccr – on the move blog, policy briefs, synthesis publications, media resources, videos, podcasts and other materials created to bring migration and mobility research to policymakers, practitioners, journalists and the wider public. Historical website material is preserved separately in the NCCR digital archive.
These legacy pages preserve the principal research, people, data and public-facing outputs of the nccr – on the move. Additional material produced between 2014 and 2026 remains available through the historical NCCR website and long-term research repositories.
