Insurance offers protection against unforeseen situations. These guarantees provide peace of mind for the students during their studies.
The University of Neuchâtel does not provide health, accident, or personal liability insurance for its students.
You are therefore responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary coverage during your studies. Below you will find some guidance.
The conditions for obtaining health insurance vary depending on your country of origin.
You can find all the relevant details on the Social Office website:
If you are employed for at least 8 hours per week, you are automatically insured by your employer against both occupational and non-occupational accidents.
If you work fewer than 8 hours per week, you must include accident coverage in your health insurance policy.
Private liability insurance is not mandatory in Switzerland, but it is highly recommended.
Please be aware that if you cause damage to a third party or to property, without such insurance you will be personally liable for repair costs or compensation, which can amount to several thousand CHF.
Check whether you are already covered by private liability insurance. Such policies often extend to all members of the same household, so you may already be insured under your parents’ or partner’s policy.
Private liability insurance is generally not very expensive. We recommend comparing offers, for example through online comparison platforms.
