Travelling to UniNE

Getting around Neuchâtel

The city of Neuchâtel is easily accessible by car or train. Although the UniNE campus has different sites across the city, the buildings are easy to access on foot or by public transport.

By bike

The UniNE community benefits from unique bicycle-related advantages, such as discounts on self-service bicycles or in local stores. Bicycle parking is available on campus, as are showers and lockers at the main sites.

By public transport

A combination of buses, trains and postbuses serve the communes along Lake Neuchâtel’s shoreline, linking the city to the rest of the canton. Various ticketing options and season tickets exist, such as the Onde verte, which covers the whole canton and beyond.

By train

The Swiss rail service (CFF) offer various travel cards, such as the Demi-tarif (which reduces ticket costs by 50%) and the Voie 7 (free travel after 7pm). For regular long-distance travel, a day pass is often better value than a ticket. Communes make a limited number of CFF day passes available to their inhabitants at a reduced cost.

By car

Mobility’s Car Sharing programme is a great alternative if you do not own your own vehicle: Mobility is established across Switzerland, and works in close collaboration with the CFF. See also the other opportunities for car sharing.

The University has no parking spaces for students, except for those with reduced mobility.

By plane

As part of its climate strategy, UniNE has put in place several measures to reduce the impact of its community’s air travel. These measures apply to all travel financed by the University.
