Master’s students who have part of / their entire curriculum in English, doctoral students. This course prepares participants to use English in an academic environment.
You will be asked to come to the EMA before the beginning of the semester to take a "Placement Test".
At the end of the intensive course, students will be able to:
- take notes in English;
- interact and participate in seminars and classes in English;
- do a short presentation on a technical subject;
- use advanced academic grammatical structures in writing and speaking;
- write an essay;
- use a learners' dictionary and other such tools to develop their academic vocabulary.
Each session presents tasks and exercises focusing on the four language skills (speaking, writing, listening and reading). Material and examples come from Academia.
Students will get 3 ECTS at the end of the course providing they hand in a small essay, do a short presentation and get >4 at the end-of-course test. Any request for a possible recognition of these credits in the student's main course of study is the student's responsibility.
The course material is going to be made available on Moodle.
