Students who would like to become more confident in using English for study purposes and outside the classroom.
The course is aimed at students whose proficiency level is around B2+.
You will be asked to come to the EMA before the beginning of the semester to take a "Placement Test".
The course will allow students to :
- use a range of vocabulary and grammatical structures at advanced level
- recognize the format of different types of text (including essays, reviews and proposals)
- write an essay or a film / book review
- manage complex reading tasks (such as reading a newspaper article and extracting the main ideas for further discussion)
- understand talks on a variety of topics
Each session will cover a different topic and students will work individually, in pairs or take part in whole-class activities. Key grammar points will be refreshed. Speaking practice will include providing personal information and discussing topics of personal and academic / scientific interest at an advanced level.
Please note that the first semester will cover only half of the book, with the second half being taught in the second semester. It is, however, possible to sign up for one semester only.
tudents will receive 3 ECTS credits for the course providing they attend regularly (no more than three absences per semester) and pass the end-of-semester test. Please note that the recognition of these credits by the student's own Faculty depends on your curricula and cannot be garanteed by the Language Centre.
