Mandates in local politics. Political participation of the migrant population and the role of recruiting procedures
Within the dissertation project the following question will be approached: “In what way are recruiting procedures in local politics relevant for the political participation of the migrant population?” Four Swiss municipalities will be examined in qualitative method based case studies. The recruitment of persons for mandates in local politics as well as the perception of procedures and decision-making processes are researched by problem-centered interviews. The comparison of the four municipalities will lastly enable a deeper insight into the way recruiting procedures play a role for the political participation of migrants in local politics.
