Students who would like to become more confident in using English for study purposes and outside the classroom.

The course is aimed at students whose proficiency level is around B2. If you are not sure of your level, you can check the evaluation forms on our page enseignement

The course will allow students to :

  • use a range of vocabulary and grammatical structures at advanced level
  • recognize the format of different types of text (including essays, reviews and proposals)
  • write an essay or a film / book review
  • manage complex reading tasks (such as reading a newspaper article and extracting the main ideas for further discussion)
  • understand talks on a variety of topics

Each session covers a different topic and students are supposed to work individually, in pairs or take part in whole-class activities. Key grammar points will be refreshed.

Please note that the first semester will cover only half of the book, with the second half being taught in the second semester. It is, however, possible to sign up for one semester only.

Students will be required to write one short text and take one (end-of-semester) test.
