Internship guidelines

  • ECTS Credits: Students can earn 18 ECTS credits by completing a full-time internship of at least 12 weeks. This must include writing a report supervised by a professor from the Faculty of Economics and Business
  • Approval Requirement: Approval from the MScGeM Programme Director is required before starting the internship
  • Coursework Consideration: Internships are not allowed during the first semester of the MScGeM programme. Additionally, they should not interfere with coursework or other academic responsibilities.

Step-by-Step Process

Before starting the Internship

1. Find a suitable internship position

You are responsible for finding a company and a faculty supervisor (See above Internship Guidelines for more details).

Your internship must meet the following requirements:

  • Duration: The internship must at least be the equivalent of 3 full-time months
  • Complexity: It should be sufficiently complex, require a university degree, and relate to one or more topics covered in the programme
  • Host Organisation: The internship must take place in a firm or organisation, or public entity.
  • Supervision: There must an internship tutor from the company and a supervising professor from the faculty

2. Submit your request

Send the following documents by email, to the MScGeM :

  • A description of the tasks and duties that will be part of the internship (i.e. job offer)
  • The Application Form, signed by the student

The programme director will review your application. Once the internship is approved, please complete the Internship Agreement and return it, signed by both the company and the student, to the MScGeM programme coordinator.

3. Register in IS-Academia

At the beginning of the semester (autumn or spring) that you which your report to be validated, register in IS-Academia for the course “Internship with Report (5GM2001)« .

Key Dates:

  • For the January session: Mid-September to early October
  • For the June session: Mid-February to early March
  • For the September session: First week of July

Towards the end of the internship

4.  Submit the First Draft of Your Report

  • Guidelines Agreement: Ensure you discuss and agree upon the guidelines with your supervisor beforehand.
  • Compose Your Report: Write your report following the guidelines provided by your academic supervisor.
  • Cover Page Template: Utilise the official cover page template as provided.
  • Submission: Email the first draft of your report in PDF format to your supervisor.

5. Send the final report

Send the final report by email and in PDF to your supervisor and to the MScGeM

6.  Hand in the following documents

Submit the following documents to the MScGeM programme coordinator:

  • One printed paper copy of the report (bound with spiral)
  • Completed forms
