Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in economics or a related field. In addition, they require sufficient oral and writing skills in English (we recommend at least a B2 level). Candidates who are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s programme may be admitted conditionally on completing their studies.
Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in economics and business from a Swiss University are directly admitted. All other candidates are evaluated by an admission committee and the limited number of study places are allocated on a competitive basis. The minimal requirements for various degrees are listed below.
Candidates from another field (e.g. political science, international relations, engineering) may be directly admitted if they successfully acquired at least 30 ECTS in economics and quantitative methods with good grades in their previous studies.
Otherwise, they may be admitted after successfully completing a one-term (30 ECTS) or two-term (60 ECTS) pre-programme to fill specific knowledge gaps.
Candidates from a Swiss University of Applied Sciences may be directly admitted if they successfully acquired at least 30 ECTS in economics and quantitative methods in their previous studies and their grade average is 5.0 or higher.
Otherwise, they may be admitted after successfully completing a one-term (30 ECTS) or two-term (60 ECTS) pre-programme to fill specific knowledge gaps.
Candidates from Universities abroad may be directly admitted if they successfully acquired at least 30 ECTS in economics and quantitative methods with good grades in their previous studies.

Late applications are considered as well but may be subject to an application fee. Applications are reviewed year-round, with admission decisions communicated within one month on average. Candidates requiring a visa must start the procedure sufficiently early (at least six months before the beginning of classes).
