Internship with report

  • 3 ECTS can by earned by conducting an internship of at least 6 weeks, full-time (maximum 6 months), including the writing of a report supervised by a professor of the Faculty of Economics and Business.
  • Approval of the Director of the MScF in mandatory before the beginning of the internship.
  • No internship can be carried out during the first semester of the MScF programme nor should the internship negatively affect other course work.

Step by step

Step 1. Internship search, director approval and supervisor selection

First, find a suitable internship position with a company.

Once you have identified a placement, you must obtain approval from Prof. Hasler. Send him an email containing the following information:

  • Company name
  • Link to the company website
  • Contact person (tutor)
  • Detailed internship topic and planned dates

If Prof. Hasler approves the internship, you must then select a supervisor from the list provided above and send the following documents to the programme administrator:

  • Internship with report application form
  • Internship and confidentiality agreement

The programme administrator will arrange the signatures from Prof. Hasler and the supervisor, and will then return the fully signed documents to you.

Step 2. Registration in IS-Academia

Register in IS-Academia for the course “Internship with report (5AF2040)” for the semester of which you will validate your report. This will automatically register you for the exam session immediately following the end of the course.

Spring semester 2026

  • Registration: 16 February – 13 March 2026
  • Submission of the report: 1 June 2026

Fall semester 2026

  • Registration: 14 September – 9 October 2026
  • Submission of the report: 11 January 2027

Step 3. Writing the report

At the end of your internship, you must prepare a concise written report.

Before you begin, consult the University intranet resources on scientific integrity and plagiarism. You should also review the Master thesis guidelines for guidance on structuring academic documents, and use the cover page template.

Report requirements:

  • Format specifications: A4 paper, Times New Roman 12 pt, double‑spaced
  • Structure of the report: 1. Introduction, 2. Core section (motivation, job description, link to financial theory, main challenges), 3. Conclusion
  • Length requirements: 10-15 pages (excluding appendices).

Step 4. Submission of the report

On the first day of the exam session, send the final PDF version of your report to your supervisor.

At the same time, send the following completed and signed PDF documents to the programme administrator:

  • Final version of the report
  • Internship certificate
  • Pledge of honour

Evaluation and assessment

Your supervisor will evaluate the report and submit the Validation and assessment form directly to the programme administrator.

You will receive your grade once all results have been officially published after the exam session.
