Master Thesis guidelines

  • ECTS Credits: Students can earn 18 ECTS by conducting research and writing a Master Thesis under the supervision of a professor from the Faculty of Economics and Business
  • Approval Requirement: Approval from the MScGeM Programme Director is mandatory before beginning the thesis
  • Coursework Consideration:Writing the Master Thesis should not interfere with or negatively impact other coursework
Research Guidelines

Step-by-Step Process

1. Choose a topic

  • If you don’t have a topic of your own, you may contact the Programme coordinator to ask for the list of suggested topics (by professors of the Institute of Management only).

2. Find a supervisor

  • Identify a faculty member who agrees to supervise your thesis.
  • Define your topic and discuss your thesis project with them.

3. Submit your request

  • Summarise your thesis project
  • Send the summary along with the Application Form to the
  • The will forward your application to the Programme Director for approval and return it to you

4. Write your Thesis

  • Guidelines Agreement: Ensure you discuss and agree upon the guidelines with your supervisor
  • Write your thesis accordingly

5. Register in IS-Academia

At the beginning of the semester (fall or spring) that you which your master thesis to be validated, register in IS-Academia for the course “Master thesis (5GM2002)”.

Key Dates:

  • for the January session: from mid-September to early October
  • for the June session: from mid-February to early March
  • for the September session: first week of July

6. Submit the First Draft of Your Master’s Thesis

  • Submission: Email the first draft of your thesis in PDF format to your supervisor
  • Cover Page Template: Utilise the official cover page template as provided

7. Submit the Final Version

  • Email to both your supervisor and the :
    • The final version in PDF
    • The copy of the signed Pledge of Honour

8.  Submit Additional Documents

  • Submit the following documents to the Programme Coordinator:
    • Printed copy: One printed spiral-bound copy of the thesis
    • Completed form: Submit the completed form Pledge of Honour – with original signature along with your master thesis
