Parcours/Biographie

Michaela Slotwinski is a tenure-track assistant professor in Social Work (50%) at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Neuchâtel and a senior researcher at the University of Zurich (UZH). She previously held a postdoctoral researcher position at UZH and served as deputy head of the research group “Social Policy and Redistribution” at ZEW Mannheim. Prior to that, she was also a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Basel, where she obtained her PhD in Economics.

Her research lies in applied economics at the intersection of labour economics and public policy. She specialises in the study of economically disadvantaged groups, including women, mothers, migrants, and refugees. Adopting a quantitative approach, she uses quasi-experimental methods and field experiments to examine the causes and mechanisms of economic inequality.
