Michaela Slotwinski est professeure assistante en voie de titularisation (tenure track) en travail social (50 %) à la Faculté des sciences économiques de l'Université de Neuchâtel et chercheuse senior à l'Université de Zurich (UZH). Auparavant, elle a occupé un poste de chercheuse postdoctorante à l'UZH et a été cheffe adjointe du groupe « Politique sociale et redistribution » au ZEW Mannheim. Avant cela, elle a également exercé comme chercheuse postdoctorante à l'Université de Bâle, où elle a obtenu son doctorat en sciences économiques.

Ses recherches portent sur l'économie appliquée, à l'intersection entre l'économie du travail et les politiques publiques. Elle se spécialise dans l'étude des groupes économiquement défavorisés, notamment les femmes, les mères, les migrants et les réfugiés. Adoptant une approche quantitative, elle utilise des méthodes quasi-expérimentales et des expériences de terrain pour étudier les causes et les mécanismes des inégalités économiques.

Michaela Slotwinski is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Social Work (50%) at the Faculty of Economics, University of Neuchâtel, and a Senior Researcher at the University of Zurich. Previously, she was a Postdoctoral Researcher at UZH and Deputy Head of the “Social Policy and Redistribution” group at ZEW Mannheim. Before that, she held a Postdoctoral position at the University of Basel, where she also earned her PhD in Economics.

Her research focuses on applied economics at the intersection of labor economics and public policy. She specializes in studying economically disadvantaged groups, including women, mothers, migrants, and refugees. Employing a quantitative approach, she uses quasi-experimental methods and field experiments to investigate the determinants and drivers of economic inequalities.
