Bruno Lanz is Full Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Neuchâtel, Director of the Institute of Economic Research (IRENE) and Co-director of the CAS in Economics and Public Finance. He is also an affiliated researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Previously, Bruno Lanz was Director of Research at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) in Geneva, and worked as a consultant in environmental economics in London. He holds a PhD in Economics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zurich).
His main research fields are public economics and environmental economics. His ongoing projects quantify the costs of adapting to climate change, the benefits of biodiversity conservation, and inform the design of public policies to support the energy transition. He has published in general-interest economics journals (International Economic Review, European Economic Review, Games and Economic Behavior), in environmental and resource economics (Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Ecological Economics, American Journal of Agricultural Economics), and in interdisciplinary outlets (Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Population and Environment, Computers & Education). He has held various service roles at the University, including Vice-Dean of the Faculty, Director of the Master of Science in Applied Economics, and member of the committee of the Association of Professors of the University of Neuchâtel.
