Undergraduate and graduate students, doctoral students and staff with an intermediate level of English (B2) who wish to improve their speaking skills and fluency.

There are no special entry requirements except for the learner’s level of English (see ‘Target audience’). If you are not sure of your level, you can check the evaluation forms on our page “Enseignement.”

You will be asked to come to the EMA before the beginning of the semester to take a Placement Test.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • express their views on a variety of topics
  • master some of the vocabulary needed to engage in conversation on various topics
  • give a short monologue on a given topic
  • participate in English conversations with fluency and ease

Each week, participants will carry out a few tasks in groups of 2 or 3, while walking together along a short itinerary. The teacher will be on hand to guide the walk, as well as provide feedback and support when needed. She will encourage participants to rely on their knowledge of the language and develop strategies to express what they want without recurring to technology. Participants will be asked to review some vocabulary, read a text, or listen to a short podcast as homework to best prepare for the week’s session.

Material needed: comfortable shoes and suitable equipment for all weather conditions.

This course is not going to be assessed, and participants cannot collect hours of work towards acquiring an Academic English Skills Certificate.

Rain-proof course material will be distributed by the teacher each week at the beginning of the lesson. Please be on time or the class will leave without you!
