In the canton of Neuchâtel, during the summer of 2020, dogs died after ingesting toxins produced by cyanobacteria. These fatal events have also occurred elsewhere in Switzerland. My PhD work focuses on the prediction and prevention of the development of toxic cyanobacteria, especially benthic species, to gain a better understanding and mitigation of cyanobacterial blooms.
