Objective

Being able to identify scientific publication of valuable impact, to promote them on the web, and to know the limit of such promotion.

Content and pre-course assignment

Introduction to:

  • Professional social networks of interest for scientific research
  • Wikipedia editing

Problems linked with the promotion of scientific research: neutrality, conflicts of interest.

Possible issues with copyright; the OpenAccess model and its relevance in this context

Home work :

  • Identify the top 5 Wikipedia articles that should be read by the general audience to understand your lab work
  • Identify a list of 5 papers from the host lab that could/should be promoted on the web

Travel expenses: participants of the  Interuniversity doctoral program in organismal biology (University of Neuchâtel) are eligible for reimbursement of incurred travel expenses by train (half-fare card, and 2nd class).
