Research interests

My research focuses on soil-vegetation interactions in Switzerland's different bioclimatic zones and particularly soil formation and evolution processes. I am interested in the ecological relations occurring within the above and belowground compartments of terrestrial ecosystems and tackle threats to soils' functions and services.

Main topics

  • Soil science
  • Above-belowground interactions
  • Ecosystem functioning

Thesis project

My research project focus on plant-soil interactions using a pre-existing database of Swiss Soils whose oldest sample date back to 1983.

The aim of my thesis project is to study multiple pedogenesis factors across space and time, and across the different levels of organization of the ecosystems, using both descriptive, analytical, and experimental approaches. Switzerland, in this regard offers an optimal research tool for investigating soil formation. Particularly, over relatively short distances, the Swiss landscape covers a great variety of geological substrates and environmental conditions.
