Margaux Corset

Introduction

I’m a PhD student in the Microbiology Laboratory at the University of Neuchâtel. My project aims to study the effect of light on the growth and toxin production of cyanobacteria. Indeed, cyanobacteria are a major problem in the canton of Neuchâtel, as several dogs have died after ingesting toxic cyanobacteria. As cyanobacteria live in close association with other micro-organisms such as bacteria and viruses, I am also studying the impact of light on these interactions. The overall aim of the project is to better understand these dynamics and how cyanobacterial blooms can be managed in aquatic systems.
