Appart-Âges

The “Appart-Âges” programme is inspired by a model widely used in Germany; it is designed for people who like to make new contacts, and aims to create links between the generations. Students and older people are the main target audiences, but families can also participate in this project.

The idea is that the student can stay in a room in exchange for lending a helping hand – to be defined in advance. Students must provide nothing but a peppercorn fee of CHF100.00 per month to take part.

What constitutes a ‘helping hand’ can vary greatly: it might be housekeeping or gardening help, teaching another language, IT lessons, a partner to go out with (e.g. to the cinema), or an evening of board games. Anything linked to personal care (toilet, getting dressed, administering medication etc.) is excluded.
