Andrea Siviero

Biography

Andrea Siviero is currently Director and Head of the International Monetary Cooperation (IMC) at the Swiss National Bank (SNB). In this capacity, he is in charge of the SNB’s bilateral and multilateral monetary cooperation as well as its international policy analysis.  

Main areas of activity of IMC are the bilateral relationship with other central banks and foreign authorities, the coordination of the SNB’s work with the main international financial institutions (IMF, BIS, FSB and OCDE) and the G20 as well as the representation of the SNB in an number of international fora. Policy analysis focuses primarily on international issues such as the Swiss balance of payment, international capital flows as well as major International Financial Institutions policies.

Before joining the SNB, Andrea Siviero headed the Financial Market Analysis at the State Secretariat for International Financial Matters (SIF), he worked for five years at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington as senior economist in the Office of the Managing Director as well as at the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), first as an economist and later on as Head of Strategy of the Development Cooperation Directorate.

During his professional career, Andrea Siviero worked in a number of countries in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, negotiated a number of international agreements, and represented Switzerland in various multilateral fora.
