Our mission is to provide high-level teaching in computer science and to present research at the cutting edge of excellence, while training the next generation through its doctoral program.
Our teaching activities
Initially, computer science, a sister discipline of physics and mathematics, focused on computation, machine architecture and compilers (or programming languages).
Today, however, computer science has made a name for itself, touching on all disciplines and opening up new perspectives for society, thus bringing about a real paradigm shift both in our societies and in scientific disciplines.
Our training courses enable us to take a cross-disciplinary approach to IT, in particular by working with other faculties at the University, and to establish links with other disciplines. This is a major advantage in a world where interdisciplinarity is highly valued.
Our research activities
The research groups at the Computer Science Department are active in a number of fields, including:
Cloud computing and grid computing
Software reliability
Concurrent programming
Information retrieval
Computer simulation
Natural language processing
Networks (wired and wireless)
Distributed systems
Computer science at UniNE is also involved in interdisciplinary research or support (e.g. geology and digital humanities).
Please consult the research group pages for more information.
