Sustainability at the University of Neuchâtel is integrated into the institution’s quality assurance system. For this reason, it falls under the responsibility of Prof. Jean-Marie Grether, the rectorate’s delegate for finance and accreditation. The departments of buildings, environment and safety (SBES) is responsible for the sustainability of the university campus and infrastructures.
The sustainable development coordination (UniD Coordination) is in charge of monitoring the annual sustainability objectives, coordinating and implementing sustainability projects, and maintaining dialogue with the university community. The coordination team includes Vice-Rector Jean-Marie Grether, Head of SBES Lionel Schilli and members of the safety and environment office Roxane Kohler and Alice Schneider.
The commission for sustainable development (UniD Commission) includes representatives of the University’s entities. Its general mission is to support UniNE’s efforts in the area of sustainable development and to submit proposal for sustainability measures to the rectorate. The commission is also in charge of selecting the winners of the interdisciplinary academic award for sustainable development.
Several student associations contribute to the dialogue on sustainability issues within the University and beyond through various actions and events.
The University participates in several national and international networks dedicated to sustainable development. The UniD coordination team represents the University in those networks.
