PhD thesis

The legal standing of Nature before swiss criminal courts

My doctoral thesis is divided into two parts. The first part addresses questions of principle: what is legal personality, what is Nature, who has rights? It is therefore a question of exploring the foundations of the current system as well as its evolution and adaptability. The second part deals with criminal proceedings when a system of legal standing for a natural entity is established. It is a question of reflecting on the issues related to the representation of nature, the awareness of offences and the types of sanctions and possible measures.
