Undergraduate and graduate students with an intermediate to advanced level of English (B2-C2) who need to give presentations in English in their content courses. This module is intended for students whose curriculum is partly or entirely in English, as well as for doctoral students. It prepares participants to present their research or academic work confidently in English.

There are no specific entry requirements other than the student’s level of English. The module is intended for students with a proficiency level of at least low B2 (intermediate/upper-intermediate).

Before the start of the module, students will be required to take a placement test at the EMA.

The module will enable students to :

• structure and deliver an academic presentation in English;
• use appropriate academic vocabulary, including reporting and hedging language;
• comment effectively on visual aids (slides, charts, etc.);
• manage questions and interact with the audience;
• gain confidence in presenting their own research.

The module is structured into three sessions covering:

1. Planning and structuring a presentation;
2. Language for presenting: reporting, hedging, and signposting;
3. Delivery techniques and managing questions.

To receive a certificate for the module, students are expected to :

• attend all three sessions;
• do the required coursework;
• deliver a one-to-one presentation of around 20-25 minutes.
