With more than a dozen laboratories and about 170 staff members, biology counts among the biggest institutes within UniNE, which highlights the importance attached to it.

The biology taught at the University of Neuchâtel covers in balanced manner all levels of organization of life, from molecules, organisms, populations and communities to ecosystems, with a special emphasis on the interactions between living beings, as well as their interactions with the environment.
