Thomas Badet

Parcours/Biographie

Thomas Badet is a lecturer teaching plant pathology at the University of Neuchâtel since 2021. His current research aims at better understanding the evolution of genome architecture with a focus on transposable elements in fungi. For that he implements predictive biology frameworks in the context of quantitative genetics and genome evolution. Thomas’ additional interests span the evolution of Repeat-Induced Point mutations as a fungal-specific mechanism of transposon control, but also the evolution of expression regulation and metabolic modelling in the context of fungicide resistance.

Thomas graduated from the University of Toulouse in 2017, where he worked on the mechanisms of plant disease resistance against a generalist fungal pathogen. His work has led to a better understanding of the mechanisms underlying plant quantitative disease resistance.
