My project aims to understand the indirect effects of spiders on alpine plant communities along an altitudinal gradient. These indirect effects range from directly consuming herbivores to altering their behavior and feeding patterns through the mere presence of these predators. More specifically, the study focuses on these effects through generalist low-altitude orthopterans along this gradient where temperature is the main changing factor, thereby simulating both climate change and the upward migration of herbivores from lower elevations into alpine ecosystems.
