Research areas
I am interested in the conservation of plant and butterfly species in highly urbanized environments. To this end, I focus on the study of existing green spaces, sacred sites in the Tokyo megalopolis.

Project
As part of my master’s thesis, I am interested in a specific type of green space: Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples (sacred spaces). I will study the state of urban biodiversity (spontaneous plants and butterflies) within these sacred sites on two urbanization gradients in the Tokyo megalopolis. This will allow me to see how biodiversity is impacted by the level of urbanization, but also to observe the potential of these green spaces to conserve and maintain plant and butterfly populations in urban environments.
