Research field: biogeosciences, chemical ecology

After obtaining my bachelor’s degree in Natural Systems, I started the master’s degree in biogeosciences with the aim of specializing in issues related to agriculture. It was indeed the chemical ecology course in my bachelor’s degree that motivated me in this direction, I had never been so interested in a course. It is therefore quite logical that I chose my master’s thesis which focuses on plant associations in crop fields in order to reduce the use of pesticides.

My thesis focuses particularly on the association of rapeseed and fava beans. What are the changes, in terms of the volatiles of these plants, when they are associated or not? What impacts do these changes have on the behavior of insect pests? Which fields are preferred by insects?

This master’s thesis is part of a doctoral thesis led by Léa Bolis in collaboration with Agroscope in Nyon.
