Are you looking for an opportunity to make real progress on your writing in a focused and supportive environment? If you’re eager to push your writing goals forward, enjoy writing alongside others, and can dedicate an entire day to uninterrupted focus, our Monthly Writing Retreat is for you.

Starting on November 6 2024, this urban retreat is designed to help you set aside personal and professional distractions so you can make meaningful strides in your writing projects—whether you’re working on a thesis, academic article, or other scholarly work.

Once a month, we’ll provide the perfect writing space at Le Hub Coworking Space in Neuchâtel, where you can work in a quiet, productive atmosphere. Plus, we’ll take care of lunch, so you can stay focused on your writing all day long.

Who Should Attend?

This retreat is ideal for anyone who is already in the process of writing—whether it’s a thesis, academic article, or other research-focused projects. If you’re ready to immerse yourself in a focused, distraction-free writing environment, we’d love to have you join us.

Monthly DSLS Game Nights and Apéro!

This monthly event is a great opportunity for PhD students to meet, get to know each other, and have fun outside of the lab. Whether you’re a board game buff, a card game champ, or just looking for a fun evening with good company, there’s something for everyone. 

When: First Thursday of every month
Where: UniMail Cafeteria
Time: from 5:30 pm
Bring: Yourself (essential), your favorite game (optional), and your competitive/cooperative spirit! 

We’ll alternate between board game nights and bigger activities like quizzes or other fun events each month, so there’s always something different to look forward to!

Drinks will be provided or sold at a very attractive price (depending on the event), and we’ll provide some snacks as well, so come unwind, grab a drink, discover some hidden gaming talents, and meet old and new friends. All skill levels are welcome – no prior experience necessary!

Curious about the latest research happening at the Institute of Biology? Want to meet fellow researchers from different labs in a relaxed and friendly setting? Join us for the IBIOL Internal

Seminar Seriesa monthly event designed to bring our department together and foster interactions across research groups.

This seminar series is all about improving interaction within the department by providing a welcoming space where researchers at all levels can engage with each other’s work. We’ve curated a diverse range of topics, ensuring there’s something for everyone—whether it’s directly related to your field or an opportunity to explore something new.

Each seminar features three short talks (10 minutes each) from early career researchers (PhD students and postdocs) across IBIOL. The talks are designed for a general biology audience, making them accessible, engaging, and a great way to learn about different areas of research within our community.
