Project: Improve passive acoustic methods for wetland bird species and wetland management.
Research:
I am a joint PhD student conducting my research in Latvia and Switzerland, focusing on the optimization and application of the passive acoustic method for wetland bird species monitoring. My research combines avian ecology, bioacoustics, and artificial intelligence to fine-tune an acoustic model for wetland environments, compare PAM with traditional survey methods, and uncover new insights into diel and seasonal bird vocalization patterns. Through this work, I aim to connect technology with ornithology to improve bird monitoring, support bird conservation, and contribute to effective, data-driven wetland management.
Academic Background:
Presently: Joint PhD in Zoology, University of Latvia and Conservation Biology Lab, University of Neuchâtel.
2022-2024 MSc in Biology, University of Latvia, Latvia.
2019-2022 BSc in Biology, University of Latvia, Latvia.
