We are currently implementing a multi-year, multi-partner project to optimize and deploy our EPN-based gel technology in East Africa. The work is structured into four main tasks:
- Formulation Optimization: Isolating and testing locally adapted EPN strains and optimizing the gel with the inclusion of UV protectants and attractants for FAW caterpillars.
- Field Trials: Conducting controlled and real-world field tests in Kenya and Rwanda to validate efficacy under different farming conditions.
- Mass Production & Training: Developing local production capacity with the help of African biocontrol company Dudutech, and training farmers in the use of simple tools (e.g. “gel-bazookas”) to apply the product.
- Outreach & Impact Assessment: Raising awareness, supporting adoption through extension networks, and measuring socio-economic and environmental benefits, focusing on women and young farmers.
