Welcome to Neuchâtel (Switzerland), a town celebrating its millenium in 2011

Neuchâtel is situated in the French-speaking area of Switzerland along the Lake of the same name. Its recorded history dates back to 1011 AD when, as Novum Castellum or "New Castle," it was a fortress owned by the Dukes of Burgundy. It is popular for its medieval architecture, boat cruises, and hiking or bicycling in the surrounding countryside. The University of this attractive and lively town will host the event.
