Course structure
This programme expands over three semesters:
- The first two semesters cover fundamental courses in core management disciplines (54 compulsory ECTS)
- The last semester aims to further develop management skills. It includes a business game that integrates previous acquired knowledge and enhances strategic thinking and decision making
During the programme, students can choose elective courses from a list and/or an internship to further deepen their knowledge in a specific field of their interest. Students can also participate on exchange programmes at a university belonging to the network of the Faculty of Economics and Business. Subject to a learning agreement, each student may validate up to 30 ECTS in a university in Switzerland or abroad

By the end of the programme, students will be able to:
- Analyse how the political, economic and social environment impacts the development and performance of firms
- Use appropriate tools and methods to identify, evaluate and solve real-life business problems
- Participate in the decision-making process in a critical and ethical way
- Work effectively with others, capitalizing on their different thinking, experience, and skills
- Communicate ideas effectively, both orally and in writing

Is it possible to follow this master while keeping a professional activity in parallel?
The programme is designed to be optimally followed in 3 semesters and full-time, the rules though allow an organisation of the studies up to a maximum of 6 semesters. If you provide a work contract, you could sign a learning agreement allowing for an extension to 8 semesters. For further information on this option, please contact the student advisor.

Does the programme start also in the spring?
No, there is only one intake per year and the programmes starts in September.

In what language are the courses?
Courses are taught either in English or in French. The title of the course is written in the teaching language.

Can I choose to follow the programme in English or in French?
No. Courses are in one of the two languages.

Is knowledge of English and French necessary for this programme?
Yes, a good command of both languages is necessary (B2 level).

Are there courses and exams on Saturdays?
No, in principle there are not. Courses run from Monday till Friday. Exceptionally, it could be that a seminar or block course is organised that extends till Saturday.

Can I follow elective courses from the first semester?
In principle not. Elective courses presuppose knowledge in economics that lack during the first semester.

Can I follow elective courses from other Master programmes of the Faculty of Economics and Business?
Yes, if the prerequisites are respected and with the approval of the director of the Master.

Can I take the evaluations in French for a course in English?
The MScGeM presupposes knowledge of English. The evaluations in French for a course in English must be approved by the professor.

Is it possible to leave on mobility during the 2nd or 3rd semester?
It is possible and mostly recommended to go during the 3rd semester.
