Information

The service-learning program, jointly organised by the laboratories of microbiology and conservation biology of the University of Neuchâtel, took place for the third time during the spring semester of 2022. Third year Bachelor students and doctoral students in biology developed activities to communicate their knowledge to pupils of the 3rd to 7th HarmoS grades.

To carry out this approach, we need you! We are looking for teachers who are interested in participating in this project with us.

Calendar

  • July to February: Recruitment of school teachers to define the general context of the approach and start preparing the students.
  • Mid-February-early March: First meeting between teachers and UniNE students.
  • March - April: Preparation of activities by UniNE students and regular exchanges with teachers to calibrate the pedagogical content.
  • April - May: Pedagogical activities in the classes and outside/lab if necessary (number of periods depending on the number of classes per group).
  • June: Final presentation with feedback between the different participants.

Feedback

"The service-learning allowed me to discover other teaching tools
that I plan to reuse in the future, for example the use of a mind map
to synthesize visually using keywords. "

"Reading the reviews, I was really surprised to see the number of
scientific concepts retained by my students! "

“Despite sometimes complex scientific concepts, the students
were very receptive and this was all the more true for the so-called
"difficult" classes "

"The students were very attentive and took into account the suggestions
made about their way of interacting with the class "

"It is gratifying to see that thanks to our suggestions, the students
improved in their classroom management over the course of the
different sessions ”

“The students were very educational and the contact
with the students worked straight away ”
