The new service-learning program launched by the microbiology laboratory of the University of Neuchâtel and funded by the quality sector of Unine and the Swiss National Science Foundation took place for the second time during the spring semester 2021. The third year students of the Bachelor in biology developed activities to communicate their knowledge in microbiology to students of 3H, 4H, 6H, 7H and 8H.

With this successful second series, we are now preparing the new 2022 version. To carry out this approach, we need you! We are looking for teachers interested in participating in this project with us.

  • July to February: Recruitment of school teachers to define the general context of the approach and start preparing students.
  • Mid-February - early March: First meeting between teachers and Unine students.
  • March: Preparation of activities by Unine students, with regular exchanges between the different partners of the project (Unine and school).
  • Mid-March - mid-May: Unine students working with schoolchildren.
  • June: Final presentation, feedback between the various participants.

"The service-learning allowed me to discover other teaching tools
that I plan to reuse in the future, for example the use of a mind map
to synthesize visually using keywords. "

"Reading the reviews, I was really surprised to see the number of
scientific concepts retained by my students! "

“Despite sometimes complex scientific concepts, the students
were very receptive and this was all the more true for the so-called
"difficult" classes "

"The students were very attentive and took into account the suggestions
made about their way of interacting with the class "

"It is gratifying to see that thanks to our suggestions, the students
improved in their classroom management over the course of the
different sessions ”

“The students were very educational and the contact
with the students worked straight away ”
