En 1902, mandat\u00e9 par le GPSR, Ernest Muret prit la direction d’une vaste enqu\u00eate sur les noms de lieux de la Suisse romande. Il dirigea l’entreprise durant trente ans. <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00c9paul\u00e9 par de nombreux collaborateurs de toute la Suisse romande (archivistes, secr\u00e9taires communaux, etc.), il d\u00e9pouilla les plans cadastraux pour mettre sur fiches les noms usit\u00e9s officiellement dans les 946 communes du territoire. Il en releva les mentions fournies dans des documents anciens. Il sillonna chaque commune pour recueillir de la bouche des meilleurs t\u00e9moins les prononciations locales des toponymes recens\u00e9s, en patois ou en fran\u00e7ais. L’ensemble de ces fiches constitue le \u00ab\u00a0fichier Muret\u00a0\u00bb qui est d\u00e9pos\u00e9 au Glossaire.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>
