In other words, this is where the institution\u2019s big strategic decisions are taken, such as regulations, the budget, the nomination of professors and so forth. The Rectorate represents the UniNE at both national and international levels.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"unine-custom-list__wrapper \" id=\"unine-custom-list-a6941f57602cb3\">\n\t<div class=\"unine-custom-list\">\n\t\t<ul>\n<li><a href=\"\/luniversite\/organisation\/rectorat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rectorate<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"unine-text-block__wrapper mb-sixth\">\n\t<div class=\"unine-text-block\">\n\t\t<h2>The Deaneries<\/h2>\n<p>These are comprised of between three and five members, of whom one is the Dean \u2013 and thus the Faculty president \u2013 and a further Vice-Dean. The members are elected for a period of two years by the Faculty Council, which manages and administers each faculty.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"unine-custom-list__wrapper \" id=\"unine-custom-list-a6941f57602d80\">\n\t<div class=\"unine-custom-list\">\n\t\t<ul>\n<li><a href=\"\/lettres\/home\/la-faculte\/decanat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Deanery of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"unine-custom-list__wrapper \" id=\"unine-custom-list-a6941f57602de0\">\n\t<div class=\"unine-custom-list\">\n\t\t<ul>\n<li><a href=\"\/sciences\/en\/the-faculty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Deanery of the Faculty of Science<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"unine-custom-list__wrapper \" id=\"unine-custom-list-a6941f57602e39\">\n\t<div class=\"unine-custom-list\">\n\t\t<ul>\n<li><a href=\"\/droit\/la-faculte\/decanat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Deanery of the Faculty of Law<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"unine-custom-list__wrapper \" id=\"unine-custom-list-a6941f57602e90\">\n\t<div class=\"unine-custom-list\">\n\t\t<ul>\n<li><a href=\"\/seco\/la-faculte\/decanat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Deanery of the Faculty of Economics and Business<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"unine-text-block__wrapper mb-sixth\">\n\t<div class=\"unine-text-block\">\n\t\t<h2>Central Administration (Domaine central &#8211; DC)<\/h2>\n<p>This term refers to the UniNE\u2019s centralised administration service, and includes the General Secretariat, Academic Services, Human Resources, Accounts and Finances, the Academic Information and Library Service, the Sports Service, the Logistics Service and the Information Technology and Telecommunications Service.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"unine-custom-list__wrapper \" id=\"unine-custom-list-a6941f57602f42\">\n\t<div class=\"unine-custom-list\">\n\t\t<ul>\n<li><a href=\"\/luniversite\/organisation\/direction-et-domaine-central\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Management and services<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"unine-text-block__wrapper mb-sixth\">\n\t<div class=\"unine-text-block\">\n\t\t<h2>University Council<\/h2>\n<p>This is the external body which advises the Rectorate on strategic questions, and oversees the UniNE\u2019s activities. Of its nine members, five are chosen by the\u00a0<em>Conseil d\u2019Etat<\/em>\u00a0(the canton\u2019s executive body), and four by the University Assembly.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"unine-custom-list__wrapper \" id=\"unine-custom-list-a6941f57603008\">\n\t<div class=\"unine-custom-list\">\n\t\t<ul>\n<li><a href=\"\/luniversite\/conseil-de-luniversite\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University Council<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"unine-text-block__wrapper mb-sixth\">\n\t<div class=\"unine-text-block\">\n\t\t<h2>University Assembly<\/h2>\n<p>The University Assembly represents the university\u2019s entire community. As well as establishing the University\u2019s statutes and certain of its regulations, the Assembly is consulted by the Rectorate regarding strategic planning. The UA is comprised of 24 individuals, representing the professorial staff (twelve members), the remaining teaching staff (four members), the student body (four members) and the administrative, technical and library staff (four members).<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"unine-custom-list__wrapper \" id=\"unine-custom-list-a6941f576030d6\">\n\t<div class=\"unine-custom-list\">\n\t\t<ul>\n<li><a href=\"\/luniversite\/organisation\/assemblee-de-luniversite\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University Assembly<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"unine-text-block__wrapper mb-sixth\">\n\t<div class=\"unine-text-block\">\n\t\t<h2>Dies academicus<\/h2>\n<p>The Dies academicus is the University\u2019s official day, taking place in early November. This long-established ritual features the procession of staff in their academic gowns, speeches, and the award of honorary doctorates to distinguished guests.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"unine-custom-list__wrapper \" id=\"unine-custom-list-a6941f57603178\">\n\t<div class=\"unine-custom-list\">\n\t\t<ul>\n<li><a href=\"\/actualites\/evenements\/dies-academicus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dies academicus<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"unine-text-block__wrapper mb-sixth\">\n\t<div class=\"unine-text-block\">\n\t\t<h2>Alumni<\/h2>\n<p>This Latin word \u2013 alumnus in the singular \u2013 designates former students of an institution of further education.
