Cantonal grants
Applications for cantonal grants should be made to the cantonal department of the applicant’s legal place of residence.
Monthly grant – UniNE Social Aid Fund
This grant provides students with a minimum standard of living. Basic needs are taken into account, such as accommodation, food and health insurance premiums.
One-off assistance – UniNE Social Aid Fund
One-off assistance is available to cover study-related costs (fees, equipment, etc.) and one-off medical expenses such as doctor’s bills.
Loans – UniNE Social Aid Fund
Loans can be used to advance a sum that is overdue (e.g. cantonal grant).
Mobility grants
Grants and funding for exchange programmes are available to UniNE students.
UniNE Donations Fund
The Donations Fund is used to stimulate research and award prizes. In particular, it is used to finance grants for members of the university community or to award subsidies for hosting foreign visitors as part of research projects.

Swiss Study Foundation
People admitted to the Swiss Study Foundation’s funding programme have access to interdisciplinary training opportunities, personalised advice, financial support and a wide range of networking opportunities.
Foundation Scholarships in Politics and Science
The “Politics and Science” scholarships enable graduates of Swiss universities to gain an insider’s view of the political processes specific to parliament. For one year, the scholarship holders work at the Federal Palace in Berne.
SNSF fellowships
Doc.CH (SSH)
Grants are awarded to promising researchers who wish to carry out a doctoral thesis in Switzerland on a subject of their choice in the humanities and social sciences for a period of 2 to 4 years.
Project mobility grants
These mobility grants are intended for doctoral students involved in an ongoing SNSF research project who wish to improve their scientific profile by spending time abroad.
BRIDGE Proof of Concept
This programme provides targeted support for young researchers to help them translate their scientific findings into practical applications and dare to take the plunge into economic practice.
Excellence grants from the Swiss Confederation for foreign researchers and artists
Every year, the Swiss Confederation offers scholarships for excellence in research and the arts. These government grants encourage international exchanges and promote collaboration between Switzerland and over 180 countries.

Doctoral programmes
An institution founded by the universities of French-speaking Switzerland, CUSO finances, coordinates and organises joint and collective doctoral activities on behalf of its members (Universities of Fribourg, Geneva, Lausanne and Neuchâtel), associate members (IHEID, ISDC) and partners (University of Bern).
Swiss-Italian scholarships for doctoral students
The aim of the Foundation for Italian-Swiss study grants is to encourage the development of cultural relations between Italy and Switzerland.

Doc.Mobility scholarship
These scholarships are intended for doctoral students who wish to improve their scientific profile in a research institute abroad for a period of 6 months, which may very exceptionally be extended to 12 months.

Postdoc.mobility
Postdoc.mobility grants are aimed at scientists who have completed their doctorate and wish to embark on an academic career in Switzerland. The research stay abroad enables them to deepen their knowledge, acquire greater scientific independence and improve their scientific profile.

Ambizione grants are intended to support young researchers who wish to carry out, manage and direct an autonomously planned project at a Swiss university.
Eccellenza
SNSF Eccellenza Professorial Fellowships and SNSF Eccellenza Grants are aimed at highly qualified junior researchers who intend to obtain a permanent professorship.
Prima
PRIMA grants are aimed at outstanding female researchers who demonstrate clear potential to become professors.
