research interest

I'm trying to determine if free-living wolves (canis lupus)
use conflict management strategies, such as reconciliation,
within a pack.

The observational part of my study took place in Yellowstone
National Park, US. Daily observations and recordings of social
interactions of two different packs using videotapes were
conducted during winter 2008-2009.

I will use videotape analyses to investigate if reconciliation,
consolation and redirection of aggression occur in wolves and
if the intensity of the aggression influences the conflict's resolution.
I will look also at body contact rate and its influence in conflict
management.

This study is linked to the PhD project of Barbara Molnar.
