The Doctoral School in Life Sciences (DSLS) is the doctoral program of the Institute of Biology at UniNE.
The role of the DSLS is to promote and uphold scientific excellence and integrity, support PhD candidates in enhancing their education and skills, and ensure timely and satisfactory progress in their thesis work.
The DSLS offers a wide range of workshops, courses, and activities designed to help PhD candidates enhance their education and develop additional skills.
To ensure timely and satisfactory progress on PhD theses, the DSLS requires PhD candidates and their supervisors to submit annual reports on thesis development. This is done through the annual Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC) meetings and supervision evaluation questionnaires.
The DSLS academic coordinator offers guidance and support to help PhD candidates develop their academic, scientific, and transferable skills. In the event of conflicts or personal issues related to their PhD thesis, the coordinator can connect candidates with the appropriate services to address their concerns.
DSLS members are required to meet several obligations during their PhD:
The DSLS does not confer the PhD degree. However, after a successful PhD defense, it issues a certificate of completion to candidates who have fulfilled all program requirements.
