A joint workshop with CUSO Doctoral Program in Molecular Plant Science

Objectives

Students will learn about the various job-finding methods and understand how to develop a personal career strategy.

Dr. Pavel Kraus, aht'intermediation, Liestal

Pavel Kraus, born 1955, holds a Doctorate from ETH Zurich and a master degree from the University of Chicago, both in the fields of geography.
In 1987 he joined Hoffmann-La Roche holding various positions in pharma marketing. As a knowledge networking officer he developed and implemented knowledge management methods in the Roche diagnostics division.
After leaving Roche in 2001, P. Kraus is one of the founding partners of the consulting company aht'intermediation. In addition he teaches at various universities for applied science.

Content and pre-course assignment

Students will identify their personal job options and expand their horizon regarding their future possibilities on the job market.

A round table will be organized on Wednesday 30 November (10.00-12.30) with participants from industry, university, federal institution, and former doctoral program participants:

Diana Santelia , post-doctoral scientist at ETH Zurich in the group of plant biochemistry (former doctoral program participant) 

Pre-course assignment : developing and sending in the current version of CV before 5 November to Dr. Pavel Kraus .

Evaluation : Active participation including preparation (home work as described; please note the deadlines)

Travel expenses : participants of the  Interuniversity doctoral program in organismal biology (University of Neuchâtel) and CUSO doctoral programme in Molecular Plant Science are eligible for reimbursement of incurred travel expenses by train (half-fare card, and 2nd class). 

  MAKE SURE YOU SIGN THE ATTENDANCE LIST EACH DAY OF THE WORKSHOP

  • For "Interuniversity doctoral program in organismal biology" participants: Please send the original tickets (no copies, except for the general abonnement) with the reimbursement form  to Dr. Christiane Bobillier.  No reimbursement for bus, taxi or car travel expenses will be paid.
  • For  "CUSO doctoral programme in Molecular Plant Science" participants: see information on the web site.

Registration

  • This course is open to all Ph.D. students, however until 30 September priority is given to "Interuniversity doctoral program in organismal biology" (8 places) and "CUSO doctoral program in molecular plant science"  (8 places) participants.
    Minimum number of participants: 12, maximum: 16.
  • This course is free, but the effective cost is approx. CHF 400.00 per person. Therefore a waiting list will be prepared to ensure that there are no empty seats.
