I am a behavioural biologist and generally interested in social evolution. My work in the Department of Comparative Cognition will focus on communicative flexibility and cognitive abilities and how these aspects interact with social behaviour in wild primates. Currently, I am planning a set of pilot studies to be conducted on sooty mangabeys in Taï National Park, Ivory Coast.

My previous work focused on dynamics in social relationships. For this I studied correlates of dominance status in crested macaque males in Indonesia, investigating the link between dominance trajectories over time, coalitions and personality. During this project I also developed an interest in methodological issues, such as how to overcome limitations in currently used methods to quantify dominance relationships and, more generally, social relationships.
