Bachelor’s and Master’s students whose proficiency level is B2 and who would like to improve their English vocabulary and grammar in order to write reports or essays, make presentations in the course of their studies .

There are no special entry requirements except for the students’ level of English. The course is aimed at students whose proficiency level is at least B2. If you are not sure of your level, you can check the evaluation forms on our page “Enseignement.”

At the end of the course, students should be able to:

  • understand and master the advanced grammar topics covered in class
  • know and use correctly a selection of words from the Academic Wordlist
  • distinguish between different levels of formality
  • know and use correctly the vocabulary providing organisation and structure in reports, essays and presentations

Flexi-course: the course takes place from 12.15-13.15 every week. In addition, students will be required to do ten hours of self-study. Students will be free to choose from a large bank of grammar and vocabulary exercises on Moodle. They should report on their self-study in the course ePortfolio.

Each session will address a specific topic either in vocabulary acquisition or in grammar. Different activities mainly focusing on active skills (speaking, writing) will be offered for each topic.

  • One short oral presentation (summary of an article)
  • One test (on the topics of vocabulary and grammar covered in class)
  • ePortfolio

The course material will be distributed in class.
