Bachelor’s and Master’s students whose proficiency level is B2+/C1 and who would like to improve their vocabulary and speaking skills.
There are no special entry requirements except for the students’ level of English. The course is aimed at students whose proficiency level is at least B2. If you are not sure of your level, you can check the evaluation forms on our page “Enseignement.”
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
- express their views on a number of topics relating to different academic fields
- distinguish between different levels of formality
- use vocabulary relating to the topics discussed
- give a presentation in English
Flexi-course: the course takes place from 12:15-13:15 every week. In addition, students will be required to do ten hours of self-study at the E.M.A Espace Multimédia d’Auto-apprentissage (E.M.A.)
Each session will address a specific topic and will include a variety of speaking activities and vocabulary exercises.
- One oral presentation (summary of an article and / or video)
- One test (on the topics and vocabulary covered in class)
- Ten hours of self-study at the E.M.A. (during the semester)
The course material will be distributed in class. Students are required to contribute CHF 5.- towards the cost of printing and photocopying.
